A system that uses lithium-ion batteries for the storage of regenerative power (the wayside B-CHOP system), the first of its kind within the jurisdiction of East Japan Railway Company, was supplied by Hitachi and commenced operation at Ome Line Haijima substation from February 20.
This system realizes efficient use of energy by storing regenerative power generated by trains braking into batteries and discharging it if necessary.

Battery unit: 4.9m × 1.4m × 2.7m (2 units)
