5. Safety Culture among the Supporting Industry

Various manufacturing companies in Japan including Hitachi have accumulated the know-how on railway projects --- which were led by JNR for long time --- and manufacturing. Moreover, for many companies, it became a benefit for their brand image to join a large-scale railway project because they can appeal the safety and reliability of their products. Because of this, the companies competed with each other to improve the quality of their products and made their best effort in case of an accident.
