Hitachi's Industrial Systems (Vice President and Executive Officer: Gaku Suzuki) established Hitachi Railway Systems Korea Ltd. (HRK) in Seoul, Korea on August 31th 2007 in order to expand the railway business in Korea. HRK has already started business operation since October 1st.
Hitachi has been focusing on the railway systems as one of the core businesses in its global strategy. Hitachi has various delivery records of the railway systems in the world from straddle monorail system in harmony with metropolitan environment, "A-train" consisted of the Aluminum Double Skin Structure utilizing the revolutionary Friction Stir Welding (FSW), Digital signaling system with high reliability to environment-friendly substation.
Hitachi has considered Korea as one of the most important overseas markets in line with Europe and China in the global strategy and HRK will be expected to become the base for marketing and engineering in Korea.
Through the establishment of HRK and cooperation with other Korean partners, Hitachi desires to be accepted as a significant member of the Korean railway society and to contribute to the further development of the railway technologies in Korea.
