Inauguration of Beijing Subway Line 5

The Beijing municipal government announced inauguration of Beijing Subway Line 5 on 7th Oct. 2007.
It is the 5th subway line in Beijing, which runs from North to South through the heart of the city.
The headway is 4 minutes at the first stage and will be shortened to carry 350,000 to 400,000 passengers per day.

Hitachi has received the order to provide Electric Propulsion system, Air Brake system and Air Conditioning system for 192 EMU’s in Dec. 2004. After intensive work with Beijing MTR Construction Administration Corp., Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. (Car builder), Knorr-Bremse AG (Air Brake), Yongji Electric Machine Factory and Sumitomo Corporation, the EMU’s were successfully delivered on time.

Hitachi will continue to work closely with Beijing Subway and Chinese partners to contribute to the development of the city of Beijing, and also to the success of Beijing Olympic Games 2008.
