Bogie spring suspension technical details such as axlebox suspension stiffness have been optimized through high-precision dynamic simulations to achieve a perfect balance between the conflicting characteristics of high-speed stability and curving performance essential for high-speed operations. A bolsterless secondary suspension and aluminum gear case and axle boxes reduces weight, while large-scale FEM stress analysis linked to 3-dimensional CAD systems successfully achieve high reliability. Resonance at the main rotational vibration frequencies has been eliminated through experimental modal analysis and FEM vibration analysis, reducing interior noise by preventing the transmission of rotational vibration from the propulsion system via the bogie frame. Performance testing was also carried out at the same time using a rotation test rig combining full-size carbodies and bogies.
