It’s an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) which realizes a high interrupting current of 1,200 A (the highest capacity anywhere in the world) with a high voltage of 3,300 volts. It’s possible now to create an inverter system with low noise levels, greater compactness and higher efficiency.
Out of consideration for the environment, its design is friendly to passengers, operators and the environment thanks to the adoption of a water cooling system that cools elements without the use of Freon gas. Traction inverters using IGBT are going to occupy center stage from now on in answer to the needs of the next generation.
