1.Introduction

In order to stop global warming (reduce CO2 gas), it is required to follow the Energy Saving Law which has been revised recently. Reduction of the use of energy is mandatory by all industries, without allowing a sanctuary, including railway transportation industry.
HITACHI has been developing Regenerative Power Absorption Unit to prevent regenerative cancelled during braking of a train. In order to prevent the feeder power from dropping as well as achieving the purposes of stopping global warming and saving energy, HITACHI has developed the B-Chop (Energy Storage for Traction Power Supply System) to utilize the re-generative power.
