Track Switch

Overview

Track switches are critical to the successful operation of any train based transit system and must be highly reliable. Hitachi's monorail track switch design has an unsurpassed record of 38 years of accident free service at the Tokyo Monorail, which is Japan’s first urban transit monorail system, and have been installed at all other Hitachi urban transit monorail systems in operation. Utilizing a section of the track beam itself, Hitachi's track switch provides a smooth transition between lines.

Track switch designs

Hitachi offers a wide variety of track switches for monorail systems, from 2-points up to five-points. Therefore, transit authorities have a great deal of options in planning train operations on main service lines, as well as the ability to significantly reduce the area needed at the train depot. Hitachi also offers flexible track switches to improve passenger comfort.
