Maintenance plan

Hitachi has a long history of manufacturing locomotives and rolling stocks. This started with the manufacture of steam locomotive, then the manufacture of the first Japanese electric locomotive to be made using domestic technology and also the participation as a principle manufacturer, from the outset, in the development of the Shinkansen (also known as the bullet train), which became the world's first commercially operated over 200 km/h train. This continues through to today with the supply of the service administration system, the principal equipment and over 1,000 vehicles for the Shinkansen. Our world leading technology is also clearly evident in our maintenance.

There is also a dual feedback between the design and maintenance departments and as well as making the most of experience gained in the planning of new vehicles for maintenance, the experience in maintenance is incorporated into the company structure for the planning of new trains. Therefore, by making maintenance plans in conjunction with plans for new trains, we have the capability to offer and execute maintenance that is very reliable whilst also keeping the LCC to a minimum.

We are able to offer the best solutions to all customer requirements not only the maintenance at new depot but also existed depots and can also maintain the new vehicles and existing vehicles. And, we provide the appropriate level of maintenance management planning and maintenance support equipment such as on-board inspection tools and depot integrated management system, depending on the degree of maintenance necessary.

Furthermore, in order to supply the necessary maintenance parts/materials, there exists an extremely broad link between HITACH and parts manufacturers and delivery agents, and in parts/material transportation, there is a world-wide network within the group (Hitachi Transport System Co., LTD) and supply chain management. Then the combination of these elements with the lifetime replacement carriage components delivery system ensures that components required for maintenance will always be available.
