Series 815

In Service : October 1999
Operator : Kyushu Railway Company
Series 815 cars which came into services in October 1999 are first "A-Train" that revolutionized structure and production method in answer to issues facing the 21st century such as LCC, recycling and reuse. Its features include an aluminum double-skin structure, FSW and modular rigging. They were awarded the Grand Prix in the short-distance passenger category in the 2001 Brunel awards, the sole international competition concerned with railway design.

Series 12- 000

In Service : December 1997
Operator : Bureau of Transportation, Tokyo Metropolitan Government
This train was produced to operate on the Tokyo Subway Line No. 12, a small bore tunnel subway. It has a fixed 8-car 8M formation. The car body is made of aluminum-alloy with large extruded structure members, and an IGBT inverter and 3 phase linear induction motors are employed. New technologies including a predictive fuzzy control automatic train operation (ATO) system, a wayside to train image and data transmission system, and an autonomous decentralized train information (ATI) system have been introduced to enable one-man operation.
Gauge : 1,435mm
Electric system : 1,500V
Train formation : 8M
Train ratings (one hour): 16 x 120kW
Car body : Aluminum-alloy construction
Bogie and driving system : Linear motor driven bogie, air suspension
Traction Control system : VVVF inverter control with regenerative braking
Maximum service speed : 70km/h
- *Note: In some countries, 'ATO' here is also called 'ATC (Automatic Train Control)'.
Series KL3-97

In Service : 1997
Operator : The Land Transport and Inland Waterways Department of the Ministry of Communications (Indonesia)
This train operates in the Jakarta metropolitan area (JABOTABEK). It has a fixed 4-car 2M2T formation and can operate with a maximum 12-car train formation. The car body is made of stainless steel and meets a compressive load of 100 tons at the car end. The VVVF inverter controls four 170kW traction motors.
Gauge : 1,067mm
Electric system : 1,500V dc
Train formation : 2M2T
Train ratings (one hour) : 8 x 170kW
Car body : Stainless steel construction
Bogie and driving system : Bolsterless bogie, air suspension, gear coupling drive
Traction Control system : VVVF inverter control with regenerative braking
Maximum service speed : 100km/h
Series 731

In Service : 1996
Operator : Hokkaido Railway Company
This suburban service train is designed for the transport of commuters and students in the Sapporo district of Hokkaido. To protect passengers from cold weather in the winter and to reduce loading and unloading time for passengers, the cars feature a 3 side-door system deck structure with partition doors. With a maximum speed of 130km/h and high acceleration and deceleration performance, running time is reduced. To avoid getting snow in the cooling system, meanwhile, a centrifugal snow separator ensures that snowless air is provided for cooling.
Gauge : 1,067mm
Electric system : 20kV ac, 50Hz
Train formation : 1M2T
Train ratings (one hour) : 4 x 230kW
Car body : Stainless steel construction

Series 100

In Service : 1984
Operator : Empresa de Trens Urbanos de Porto Alegre S.A. (Brazil)
This train operates in Porto Alegre, the capital city of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The car body is constructed of low carbon, high tension stainless steel, and the body structure strength can withstand 365 tons of compression. The bogie is welded and uses air springs directly connected to the car body. The driver's cab is equipped with a roof-mounted air conditioning unit. The main resistors are natural cooling wavelike ribbon resistors, mounted on the roof. The line breaker box is furnished with a safety interlock mechanism to prevent the cover from opening unless the pantograph is withdrawn.

Series CQ311

In Service : 1984
Operator : Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (USA)
These transit vehicles are operating in Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S.A., so their construction meets with strict American safety requirements. Every part and component has been carefully checked for reliability. In the running test on the Pueblo test line in Colorado, U.S.A., executed in 1984, the overall performance of the vehicle fully satisfied the specified requirements. The use of high tension stainless steel makes the weight of the car body equivalent to that of a conventional aluminum alloy car body.
